William D. Lebo Memorial Foundation Scholarship

ELIGIBILITY: applicants must be current or retired first responders residing within Lebanon County, or, the child of a current or retired first responder residing within Lebanon County who is seeking continuing education in their chosen field and will provide an essay to the WDL Board of Directors which outlines their career plans and how the education sought will be brought home to serve Lebanon County.

Lt. William D Lebo was a Lebanon City Police officer for 40 years. Tragically, he lost his life on March 31, 2022 while responding to a domestic dispute call. He was killed 30 days prior to his anticipated day of retirement. Bill served his community with honor, pride and integrity and truly loved the community he served. To keep his memory alive and to continue serving the community he loved, The William D Lebo Memorial Foundation is offering applications for continuing education scholarships.

Qualified applicants must reside in Lebanon County, be employed or retired First Responders or a child of a First Responder AND have been accepted or enrolled in a continuing education program. Continuing education is defined as college, technical school, professional education, or any approved certificate program. First responders include police, sheriff department, EMS, fire department, correctional officers, probation/parole, and emergency dispatchers.

Scholarships are a one-time offering and amounts of up to $5000 will be determined following evaluation of applications following the deadline. Applications must be complete, legible and contain all attachments in order to be considered. Robert Lengle Memorial Scholarship

Lebanon Lodge 42 offers the “Robert Lengle Memorial Scholarship” each year in the amount of $500.00, which may be awarded to a high school senior graduating from a School District within Lebanon County, and who plans to further their education in the field of Law Enforcement, Criminal Justice, Forensic Sciences, Public Safety or Emergency Medical Response.

Applications for the scholarship should be submitted to the guidance counselor of each high school no later than the end of February of each school year, including a return deadline. The scholarship will be awarded to a student by the end of April of the same school year.

Applicants applying for the scholarship must submit the following:
(1) Completed application;
(2) A letter of acceptance in one of the listed fields of study from a University or College of the student’s choice;
(3) A transcript of their high school grades;
(4) An original one-page letter describing the applicants further plans or goals as they relate to their pursuit of higher education;

The Lodge Executive Board shall be responsible for reviewing all applications, and determining who shall be awarded the scholarship.
